Page For Users Of The Estic Package On FreeBSD (& Other Unixes)

Estic is a Controller program for the Istec-1003 & 1008 equipments, 3 & 8 extension ISDN PBX (Private Branch (Telephone) Exchanges (PBX is a real English Acronym, as used by British Telecom. The Germans (who after all were the manufacturers of this kit) know it as a TK-Anlage (Telekom Equipment) in German, in American (ie Not English) they';d know it I think as an LCO = Local Call Office). It provides configuration, logging, real time connection display etc. The Istec was made by the German company Emmerich.
Notes:

the Hardware name starts with a I.
The software name starts with an E (to avoid tradename problems I recall the author wrote).
English & German native speakers also pronounce I & E differently: Germans pronounce an "I" the way English pronounce an "E"

Subscription & De-Subscription to the mail list is via Majordomo that also administers other lists.
This List is also open beyond FreeBSD, for other BSD, & Linux & other Unix users too if they don't have any better mail list for Estic. This list is not for Istec users using Istec's proprietary Microsoft based executables.
The old official ports/misc/estic/ FreeBSD ports wrapper I created, still in use.

Estic as Not written by Istec, ( but by Ullrich von Bassewitz I'd like to credit him here for his work, even though he does Not want to be burdened by people contacting him anymore :-). Here's a copy of his text grabbed 2004.01.06:

Nachdem es 5 Jahre nach der Einstellung meiner Arbeiten an ESTIC immer noch Leute gibt, die mir mailen, weil ihre Telefonrechnung zu hoch ausfällt, oder die mir nachtelefonieren, weil sie ESTIC nicht zum Laufen bekommen, denke ich, es ist an der Zeit diese Seiten endgültig aus dem Verkehr zu ziehen.

Ich habe am 3. April 2002 die ESTIC Seiten durch diesen Hinweis ersetzt, und bitte darum, Links auf die ESTIC Seiten zu Löschen bzw. Betreiber von Seiten die Links enthalten, darauf hinzuweisen.

So if you want help, your on your own, about your only hope may be to join the mail list above, & help each other, &/or if anyone knows URLs to a Microsoft based (or other OS) self help group for the Istecs, I'll happily point URLs from here.
PS being a freelance computer consultant if someone had enough money, & wanted me to work on things, I'm not averse, & yes I speak German too, as well as the C programming language & Unix :-)
